Michael Jackson's Thriller Jacket Goes on Auction Block this Weekend

(BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.) -- This weekend, the red jacket that Michael Jackson wore in his iconic video for "Thriller" will be put on the auction block in Beverly Hills, California.

Julien's Auctions estimates that it will fetch between $200,000 and $400,000.  However, auctioneer Darren Julien says there is already "interest up to close to a million" dollars.

Julien says the jacket should draw interest from both fans and museums.

"It's something that if a museum or institution were to buy, have it on display, it would attract millions of people from all over the world just to view it in person," he says.

The "Thriller" jacket isn't the only Michael Jackson item that will be up for grabs during the auction on Saturday and Sunday.  Julien's is also offering a stage-worn fedora, a signed sketch, various awards Jackson won, and the wig he wore at a London press conference to announce the This Is It tour that was later cancelled following his death.

Items connected to Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and other popular artists will also be part of the auction. Fans and potential buyers alike can browse the complete catalog at JuliensAuctions.com.
