Michael Jackson - O Rei do Pop

Logo em seguida foram lançados em 1995 os álbuns “Blood on the Dance Floor / History in the Mix” e “History: Past, Present and Future, Book I”, ambos muito aclamados pelo publico.

Michael Jackson's Neverland To Become A State Park?

Fans of Michael Jackson may get to visit the King of Pop's Neverland Ranch after all - a Californian lawmaker wants to turn the property into a state park.

The
Thriller hit-maker moved out of his Santa Barbara home in 2005 after cops raided it in 2003 following his arrest on child molestation charges. Private equity firm Colony Capital LLC now co-owns the sprawling estate with the Jackson family after the singer signed it over to them for $35 million in 2008.

Now, California assemblyman Mike Davis has suggested declaring Neverland an official state park - an area of land preserved on account of its historic interest, and administered by the Californian government. If his proposal gets the go-ahead, it could mean Jackson's fans will be free to visit the site.

Davis tells the
Associated Press, "Given that we have an economic shortfall... I suspect it would be difficult for the State Parks Department to purchase the property alone... I am committed to finding out all details possible to make this a good proposal."

Last year residents in the nearby Santa Ynez Valley rallied against plans to turn Jackson's former home into a tourist attraction.

Elvis Suomessa - In Finland

Dozens of songs of Elvis Presley's repertoire have been recorded in Finland from the beginning of the 60's and up 'till these days - both in Finnish and in English. This obviously includes many sides of Elvis's versatile recording career: rock tunes, ballads, country and movie songs.

The new collection "Elvis in Finland 2" starts with a version of That's All Right, Mama (Kaikki hyvin mama) by a legendary singer Rauli Somerjoki. This song comes from Elvis's first and Rauli's last recording session. Probably the most well-known Elvis movie songs in Finland, Flaming Star (titled Kohtalon tähti) and The Walls Have Ears (Seinillä on korvat) are both naturally included on this cd. Early Finnish rock'n'rollers, like Jussi Raittinen, Rock Jerry and Pekka Loukiala, have their own versions on this collection too.

There are also a couple of rarities on the collection. One of them is Summer Kisses, Winter Tears (Kesän suukot talvi vei) which is the only single release by a singer called Richard. Some fine arrangements can be found as well: an a cappella group Veeti And the Velvets delivers a very nice version of King Creole and the late Tapio Heinonen sings beautifully his version of Mary in the Morning (Kaunein aamuisin).

"Elvis Suomessa - in Finland vol. 2" celebrates the 25th Anniversary Year of The Official Elvis Presley Fan Club of Finland. Copies of the brand new CD can be ordered directly from the fan club at €20 each (incl. p & p. in Europe), €25 (overseas).

The CD includes the following songs in English: Baby Let's Play House, My Baby Left Me, Don't Be Cruel, King Creole, Suspicion, Return to Sender and All That I Am.

Rare New Photos of Elvis Uncovered [Pictures]

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Elvis Presley archivists have found three rare photos dating to 1957 that show the young singer greeting fans at the gates of Graceland.
The pictures show Presley interacting with fans standing behind the gate and perched along the wall that surround his Memphis home.
Pictures: Eternally Elvis

Negatives of the photos were discovered as archivists pored through a vast collection of documents from the office of Vernon Presley, Elvis' father.
Archivist Angie Marchese of Elvis Presley Enterprises said the photos have never before been published.
The pictures will be displayed at Graceland beginning Thursday and running through Aug. 16.
The three uncovered photos are below:

SYTYCD Season 7: July 1 Cirque du Soleil 'Viva Elvis' performance (VIDEO)

This dance piece performed on "So You Think You Can Dance" on 1 July 2010 combines "Didja Ever" and "Return to Sender." The theme is military life during the 1950s. Remember Presley did serve in the army from 1958 to 1960. "Viva Elvis" is a Las Vegas show developed by Cirque du Soleil together with, who else, Elvis Presley Enterprises. The show opened 19 February 2010.
"Return to Sender" was a 1962 hit for Elvis, written by Winfield Scott and Otis Blackwell. Presley performed the song in the 1962 movie "Girls! Girls! Girls!"
"Didja Ever" was from Presley's 1960 album "G.I. Blues" and written by Sid Wayne and Sherman Edwards.
"Viva Elvis" is a play on Presley's 1964 movie "Viva Las Vegas." which is also the title of a song written for that movie that starred Presley and Ann-Margret.
Presley died in 1977 at age 42. Ann-Margret is still alive and kicking and apparently driving a motorcycle.
The music for this performance piece is Elvis, but the moves are totally contemporary. You can't imagine Elvis or Ann-Margret performing these moves. There's some gymnastic tumbling, but it's all well integrated into the piece.

BET Boss Defends Chris Brown

A BET Awards official has defended Chris Brown's controversial performance at the ceremony - insisting the star's onstage tears were not "fake".

The
Kiss Kiss hit-maker, who has struggled to make a comeback since his infamous fight with Rihanna last year, hit headlines with his Michael Jackson tribute at last Sunday's show in Los Angeles. Brown danced to the King of Pop's hits but faltered during his rendition of Man in the Mirror as tears streamed down his face.

Subsequent online gossip accused the singer of faking the moment to win over the crowd, but Stephen Hill, BET's Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming, is adamant the speculation is untrue.

He tells
Allhiphop.com, "I think the pressure of the year and the lyrics of that song really just resonated (with Brown). And, as someone who was backstage, there was nothing fake about that. I think there is a... story today about like his bodyguard gave him (sic) something to induce tears. It's just not true. I've been around actors who cry and when you fake cry, you don't get... your throat doesn't get swollen like it does (when you cry for real)."

"When he was trying to sing, he couldn't get anything out. That's a hard thing to fake. I appreciate people wanting to create controversy, but this guy has gone though a lot this past year, let this emotion be what it is. Everybody comes to the moment where you gotta make that change."

A representative for Brown has also slammed the rumors as "completely untrue."

Without The King's Consent

Andrew Jackson and Frederick Allen wrote the book Without The King's Consent - Tell Me Pretty Baby. It's about supposedly the first record Elvis made before going to Sun in 1954.
Here is some background information, taken from answers.com:
My information on this particular recording is that it was claimed to be Elvis' first ever recording, supposedly made at Audio Recorders in Phoenix, Arizona in 1954. It was released in 1978 on the Elvis Classic label (EC-5478), lasted 2 minutes 12 seconds, with writing credit going to Andrew (Lee) Jackson, production by Pete Falco, and music publishing by Sheri-Kay Publishers/Golgotha BMI. It was distributed by Cin/Kay Records Distributors of Nashville, Tn.
In an affidavit signed by Pete Falco on July 6th 1978, he stated that he paid Elvis $15 to record "Tell Me Pretty Baby" with his group, the Red Dots. Elvis' father, Vernon Presley contested the song's authenticity, stating that Elvis was never in Phoenix in 1954 and never recorded for any company before Sun Records.
Apparantly a singer by the name of Michael Conley later admitted making the fake recording, although his manager, Hal Freeman, stated that Conley lied.
Unknown or "lost" recordings by Elvis are extremely rare. If you have new information that the recording of "Tell Me Pretty Baby" was genuine, then I'm sure that the entire Elvis world will be absolutely delighted.

New Web Site Celebrates Elvis on Tour

'This is It' marca um ano sem Michael Jackson
