Kid Galahad is a 1962 musical film starring Elvis Presley as a boxer. The film was released by United Artists. The film opened at #9 at the box office for the week when released in August, 1962. Variety listed the movie as #37 on the list of the top-grossing movies of 1962.
The movie was filmed on location in Idyllwild, California and is noted for having a strong supporting cast. Most critics rate it as one of Presley's best performances.
The film is a remake of the 1937 original version starring Edward G. Robinson, Bette Davis, and Humphrey Bogart. UA had owned the original version at the time of the remake's release.

Synopsis
Willy Grogan is a small-time boxing promoter, based in the Catskills resort region of New York. He has debts to pay and often pays too little attention to the woman who loves him, Dolly. Into their midst comes Walter, a young man recently discharged from the Army who loves the peaceful setting almost as much as he loves working on old cars. Walter's simple goal is to go into business as a mechanic at a nearby garage.

One day he intercedes on a lady's behalf and decks one of Willy's top fighters. Willy is persuaded to let this "Galahad" take a shot in a legitimate ring. Both men are reluctant, but each has a need for the money. Walter begins working out under the watchful eye of Willy's top trainer, Lew.

The attractive Rose, younger sister of Willy, shows up unexpectedly. She and Walter almost immediately hit it off. The obsessively protective Willy doesn't want his kid sister falling for some "grease monkey" mechanic and two-bit boxer. Dolly is envious of the young couple's romance and resents Willy's interference.

After several successes in the ring, Walter is readied for his biggest fight. Gangsters want him to take a dive so that Willy can pay off his debts to them, but "Galahad" throws his muscle behind Willy and saves the day. He wins the big fight as well as Willy's approval, retiring undefeated to his vintage car and his new love.

Elvis Presley's nineteenth movie was 'Harum Scarum' (MGM, 1965), also known by one of the working titles as 'Harem Holiday'. Another 'quickie' produced on a very low budget by Sam Katzman, Harum Scarum features Elvis Presley as matinee idol Johnny Tyronne. A takeoff on Elvis himself, Johnny is a famous movie and recording star who makes the women swoon and the men jealous. On a personal appearance tour in Lunarkand -- a fictional country somewhere in the Middle East -- Johnny is kidnapped by a gang of assassins and suddenly thrust into a plot to kill King Toranshah.
Johnny escapes and falls in with a band of pickpockets and rogues, all the while rescuing damsels in distress and singing a variety of pop-styled tunes. Johnny falls in love with a beautiful handmaiden, played by Mary Ann Mobley; unbeknownst to him, she is really Princess Shalimar, daughter of King Toranshah. Johnny thwarts the assassination attempt on the king, wins the heart of Princess Shalimar, and returns to America with a new act.
Principal photography began on March 15, 1965. Elvis was finished his work on the movie on April 19, 1965. Filming took place on the lot in Culver City, California with sets reused from Cecil B. DeMille's 1925 silent film 'King of Kings' and with costumes from the 1944 movie 'Kismet' and its 1955 remake.
The film was released for Thanksgiving weekend on November 24, 1965 and reached #11 on the following week's 'Variety Box Office Survey', the fortieth-highest grossing film for 1965. The soundtrack album, which contained a souvenir picture of Elvis in one of his costumes from the film, had a 23-week stay on the Billboard LP chart, peaking at #8.

Da redação - A relação entre a marca americana de relógios Hamilton e Elvis Presley data de 1961, quando o "Rei do Rock" usou o modelo Hamilton Ventura no filme Feitiço Havaiano (Blue Hawaii). Lançado em 1957, foi o primeiro relógio elétrico (movido a bateria) do mundo.

Mais tarde, o próprio Elvis comprou um exemplar para seu uso pessoal. A pedido do astro, o modelo teve sua pulseira original, de couro, substituída por uma de metal.

Em 2010, Elvis completaria 75 anos de idade. Para celebrar, a Hamilton fez questão de relançar a coleção Ventura. Entre os modelos da linha está o Ventura XXL Graceland Auto, com sua marcante caixa triangular em aço inoxidável. Com movimento automático, tem visor em cristal safira e pulseira de borracha nas opções branca ou preta. É resistente à água em até 50 metros.

Hamilton

Fundada em Lancaster, Pensilvânia, em 1892, a Hamilton iniciou sua história com relógios de bolso que eram usados para a marcação dos horários de trens nos EUA. Em 1914 se tornou o relógio oficial das Forças Armadas Americanas. Foi escolhida por pilotos como instrumento de navegação em 1919 e passou a fazer parte do uniforme de companhias aéreas a partir dos anos 30. Durante a Segunda Guerra, concentrou sua produção de relógios para as Forças Armadas, fornecendo cerca de 1 milhão de peças.

A década de 50 também foi muito importante para a Hamilton. Em 1951, marcou presença no filme “Os Homens Rãs” (The Frogmen) e iniciou sua história como parte do figurino das principais produções cinematográficas de Hollywood, como “Feitiço Havaiano” (Blue Hawaii), estrelado por Elvis, consagrando assim o clássico modelo Ventura. Em 1970, apresentou ao mundo o Pulsomatic, o primeiro relógio digital do mundo. Todos os modelos Hamilton são automáticos e fabricados com a expertise do grupo suíço Swatch.
