Sony Music Entertainment celebrates the 75th anniversary of The King's birthday in style with the release of Elvis Presley: 50 Australian Top Ten Hits 1956-1977 in Australia.
This double CD set is the first ever Elvis Presley Australian hits compilation. Together with the 50 hit songs, an 18 page booklet containing specially written liner notes and images of original RCA releases, and CD label art inspired by his first album release, the set provides a unique insight into Elvis Presley's popularity in Australia, a country where he managed an incredible twenty-year streak of placing hits on the singles charts.
Expect such hits as 'Heartbreak Hotel', his first Top Ten hit which peaked at #3 in July 1956. Others include 'Jailhouse Rock' (November 1957), 'Can't Help Falling In Love' (December 1961), 'In the Ghetto' (July 1969) and 'Suspicious Minds' (October 1969). Although Elvis never travelled to Australia, it was, and remains, one of his most successful territories outside of the United States. He is ranked #1 Solo Male Artist in this territory with the most #1s (1956 to 2009) with 14 #1 singles in this period. He also has the record for the number of years between his first #1 single and his last one - the first was in May 1959 with 'A Fool Such As I', the last in June 2002 with 'A Little Less Conversation'. In this period he had 120 chart topping singles.
