Michael Jackson - Captain EO

"We Are Here To Change The World", a outra música performada por Michael em Captain EO, iria entrar para o álbum Bad no lugar de "Smooth Criminal". (A Disney retomou as exibições do filme devido à morte de Jackson em 2009). A tradução foi realizada pela equipe de legendas do fórum Number Ones.

Michael Jackson's 'Captain EO' Returns to Disneyland

                                                  Michael Jackson as Captain EO

ANAHEIM-- "Captain EO," the 1986 3-D musical adventure film starring Michael Jackson, will be making its return to Disneyland beginning next week, park officials said.

A new 70 mm print of "Captain EO" will be shown starting 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23rd, and will sound "better than ever" thanks to recent audio and acoustic enhancements made to the theater, according to Heather Hust Rivera, print and social media manager of the Disneyland Resort.

The 17 minute film will be shown in the Tomorrowland theater where it ran for 11 years between 1986 through 1997.

"Captain EO" replaces "Honey I Shrunk the Audience," which closed January 3rd.

There will be a special line set up for park guests who want to be among the first to see the re-released film.

Park officials gave no indication on how long "Captain EO" would be running, though it will likely stay as long as it is popular, according to Michele Himmelberg, a Disney spokeswoman.

"Captain EO" stars the late Michael Jackson as a captain leading a crew of aliens, robots and "fuzzball" on a spaceship on a mission to deliver a gift to a wicked alien witch ( Anjelica Huston).

The film was directed by Academy Award-winner Francis Ford Coppola, with George Lucas serving as the executive producer. The film cost a reported $23.7 million to make in 1986.

Michael Jackson Mural to Adorn "Bad" Brooklyn Subway Station
By MARIEL SMITH

The Brooklyn-bound G-train; the next stop is: Michael Jackson immortalized at Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets.
The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership negotiated an agreement to create a mural of the late King of Pop at the entrance of the Hoyt-Schermerhorn train station, the New York Post reports.
The display is still being planned with no word on who will design the artwork, which will be displayed on the front of an office building at 45 Hoyt Street.
The location holds special significance because the Hoyt-Schemerhorn station is where director Martin Scorsese directed Jackson in the iconic 1987 music video "Bad."
"We see this as a great opportunity to potentially establish Hoyt-Schermerhorn’s role in American pop culture and as a tourist destination to attract people to a part of Downtown Brooklyn already rapidly growing," Joe Chan, president of the partnership told The Post.
Since the project will be shown on property belonging to real estate company Beneson Capital, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's permission is not required.
This is not the first time a Hoyt-Schermerhorn Jackson tribute was proposed -- Last fall, the MTA rejected City Councilwoman Letitia James’ suggestion to rename the station after the "Thriller" singer and hang up a plaque of him.

Filmmakers from overseas continue visiting Michael Jackson's Indiana hometown

GARY, Ind. (AP) — Interest continues around the world about the life of Michael Jackson, bringing film crews from overseas to his Indiana hometown nearly eight months after his death.

Production crews working on documentaries for Japanese and German television were in Gary over the weekend visiting spots from Jackson's boyhood.

The Japanese crew filmed at the small house where Jackson grew up and at the former Mr. Lucky's nightclub where he and his brothers first performed as the Jackson 5 in the 1960s.

Among those interviewed was Steve Manning, who was president of the Jacksons' first fan club. Manning says he wishes Jackson could see how much he was loved.

The Awesome Threesome: 70+ year old Leisure World residents honor Michael Jackson by performing a dance in Seal Beach, California.

These Seal Beach seniors grooved, glided and well, grabbed their way to YouTube fame.

Meet 77-year old Kurt Bourhenne, 81-year old Bert Carroll, and 71-year old Frank Tripoli - also known as "The Awesome Threesome."

They performed this dance to Michael Jackson's Billie jean during a Texas hold-em party at their Leisure World Senior Community a few months ago.

Carroll's daughter, also the choreographer, posted the video on YouTube so family members could watch it.

Now, the video has been viewed more than 1.1 million times.

"I'm thoroughly amazed at that many people watching that!" said Kurt Bourhenne.

"People need a good belly laugh, and to be able to smile and that's what it's all about!" said Bert Carroll.

The men all have a musical and dancing background.

Carroll is an accomplished pianist and songwriter.

They quickly admitted dancing to the King of Pop is no easy task.

"I think we could spin, but we'd end up with vertigo," said Carroll. "You wouldn't see us for a week!"

The guys are pretty famous here at leisure world, their neighbors now, asking them for their autographs

The question now is who will they dance to next?

"We ought to do Lady Gaga," Carroll said.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A Bay Area band known as "Neverland," which performs Michael Jackson's songs, has been told by the Jackson estate to stop using that name.

An attorney for the estate says the name Neverland is associated with Jackson through his ownership of the Santa Barbara County ranch by that name, so it might appear the estate endorses the band. The band was told that if they do not change the name, the estate will take action

"They very well might be able to. As far as we can tell it is really gray," band manager Morty Okin said.

For now, the 14-piece tribute band which formed in March 2009, has changed its name to Foreverland because it does not have the resources for a court fight.
However, that entails the hassle of changing the website, promotional materials, and future bookings.

Some of the band members gathered at Mezzanine Lounge before Friday's performance in Felton, somewhat surprised, since this band is serious about the music.

"It's a testament to these pieces; they're so amazing and so challenging," singer Alex Brose said.

Lawsuits have been rare what with tribute bands around like Barely Manilow, Dead Zepplin, and AC/DSHE.

Singer Mark Edwards used to sing with Mandonna.

"No one ever gave us any problems at all from Madonna's camp and we played for years," he said.

When the band appears at Mezzanine on Feb. 26, will it be Neverland or Foreverland? This legal battle may not quite be over yet. Okin says if they can find an entertainment attorney who would take their case pro bono, they may challenge the estate.

Q&A: Orianthi Inspired And Ready To Tour After Michael Jackson Experience

Last week, Orianthi performed a free show for fans at The Hard Rock in Hollywood. Not only did this Australian native kill it on guitar solos, she delivered an amazing vocal performance to a jam-packed restaurant.

Starpulse got a chance to sit down with the 25-year-old pop star before her debut show! Orianthi revealed she had a crush on both Robert Pattinson and Jude Law as well as what it was like working with Michael Jackson.

Starpulse: How are you making the transition from "Michael Jackson's Guitarist" to becoming a rock/pop star, Orianthi?

Orianthi: I've been doing this for a while; the record was already done and set for release before I got the email to go on tour with Michael. I had my band and we were ready to rock out! But after going through that life changing experience, you know, to work with someone so incredible, it made me believe in myself more. I needed a bit of time after working with Michael to reflect on everything-I think that everyone who was working on the tour should continue doing what they're doing with Michael's spirit.

What's the number one thing you learned from Michael?

Never hold back. Project your energy and have fun! Inspire people-I want to inspire more girls to play electric guitar and hit your highest notes.

How does life in LA differ from Australia?

I've been living here for about 3 1/2 years and I love it! I have some awesome friends and I think it's important to surround yourself with the right people.

You have accomplished more before your 26th birthday than most people accomplish in their lifetime. What's up next for you?

I'm going on tour very soon. It's not completely set but I am very excited and I will share the news very soon! It's going to be so much fun.

What would you say is the number one message you deliver to your fans through your music?

Number one message? Empowerment! Believe in yourself, follow your dreams and never give up! Don't let negativity hold you back and just got for it. I think my music has positivity through it, you know, the whole record as a whole is so empowering. That's what I titled it, 'Believe', it's important to believe in yourself.

Now, your hit single, 'According To You', is a bit ruthless-Is it geared toward any guy in particular?

Maybe a couple.

Do you have any rituals you have to do before going on stage?

My band and I do this weird thing where we all dance around in a circle while drinking throat-coat peppermint tea and then we run around in our gold capes.

Gold Capes! Am I going to get to see them?

I think we may have them around here somewhere!

Are you into Twilight?

I love Robert Pattinson! I think he is so hot!

Is that your crush?

Pretty much! Him and Jude Law! They're both hot, right?

Yes, they are! What do you want to tell your fans out there that are reading this right now?

Thank you so much for all of your support and for requesting my song on the radio. We can't wait to go out and tour and see you all! Thank you so much for everything and we will see you all soon out on the road. Peace and love!

"Blue Suede Shoes": On the giant stage the King surveys his court of musicians and frenetic dancers
Julie Acoin

There he is, in vivid black and white, onstage at Las Vegas' new Aria hotel-casino, squalling "Blue Suede Shoes" on a gigantic screen behind a jukebox-shaped set. Below him, eight musicians serve as his amped-up house band while a dozen dancers practically leap out of their tight pants and pedal pushers. At center stage is a huge shoe, which another half-dozen revelers use as a trampoline, performing double somersaults in time to the music. The King looks down, smiling as if in approval of this spectacular union of two crucial elements--one past, one present--of Vegas show biz. Elvis Presley, meet Cirque du Soleil's Viva Elvis.
From his first concert series at the International Hotel in 1969 until his death in 1977, Elvis was Las Vegas. Glammed up in sequined duds that would make a showgirl or Liberace envious, he pleased his aging audience, singing his early hits that once had the musk of sexual revolt but by then were golden oldies. And while he redefined Sin City's notion of a headliner show, the town changed Presley as well. At the end, the kid from Tupelo, Miss., may have been more Vegas than Elvis.
The Strip has another king now. Since 1993, with the opening of Mystère, the Montreal-based Cirque has come to dominate Vegas entertainment with such theatrical extravaganzas as the water show O and the martial-arts epic Ka--pieces that in scope and technical éclat are to the typical Broadway show what Avatar is to the 1933 King Kong. In 2006, Cirque pulled off a Beatles homage, Love, but that was sedate stuff next to this audiovisual-balletic-acrobatic explosion from director Vincent Paterson and "director of creation" Armand Thomas. They've concocted an experience that's both symphonic and in every way fantastic.
Beginning and ending with Elvis '56 ("Blue Suede Shoes" to start, "Hound Dog" for the finale), the 90-min. show, now in previews before its official opening Feb. 19, sprints through Presley's youth, his first phenomenal success, his Army service, his marriage to Priscilla Beaulieu, his movies and the Vegas years. This is hagiography, not biography; it's no warts, all wonder.
The wonder comes not just in the death-taunting circus feats--trapeze agility, high-bar gymnastics--that are the company's hallmark but also in the superb editing of Elvis clips (by Ivan Dudynsky) and the savvy sampling of the musical material (by Erich van Tourneau) that revises and refreshes the Presley oeuvre. No tribute show can touch this one in its level of sophistication and its power of evocation.
Got a Lot o' Livin' to Do
In Vintage Cirque style, Viva Elvis often soars into the symbolic, the oneiric. To suggest the star's closeness to his twin brother Jesse, who died at birth, the show offers, to a tender rendition of the ballad "One Night," a vision of two young men in James Dean--ish white T-shirts and jeans, executing soulful acrobatics, alone and together, on a guitar-shaped apparatus suspended in front of a starry night sky. At the end, one of the men--Jesse--falls off into the abyss.
