Q&A: Orianthi Inspired And Ready To Tour After Michael Jackson Experience

Last week, Orianthi performed a free show for fans at The Hard Rock in Hollywood. Not only did this Australian native kill it on guitar solos, she delivered an amazing vocal performance to a jam-packed restaurant.

Starpulse got a chance to sit down with the 25-year-old pop star before her debut show! Orianthi revealed she had a crush on both Robert Pattinson and Jude Law as well as what it was like working with Michael Jackson.

Starpulse: How are you making the transition from "Michael Jackson's Guitarist" to becoming a rock/pop star, Orianthi?

Orianthi: I've been doing this for a while; the record was already done and set for release before I got the email to go on tour with Michael. I had my band and we were ready to rock out! But after going through that life changing experience, you know, to work with someone so incredible, it made me believe in myself more. I needed a bit of time after working with Michael to reflect on everything-I think that everyone who was working on the tour should continue doing what they're doing with Michael's spirit.

What's the number one thing you learned from Michael?

Never hold back. Project your energy and have fun! Inspire people-I want to inspire more girls to play electric guitar and hit your highest notes.

 

How does life in LA differ from Australia?

I've been living here for about 3 1/2 years and I love it! I have some awesome friends and I think it's important to surround yourself with the right people.

You have accomplished more before your 26th birthday than most people accomplish in their lifetime. What's up next for you?

I'm going on tour very soon. It's not completely set but I am very excited and I will share the news very soon! It's going to be so much fun.

What would you say is the number one message you deliver to your fans through your music?

Number one message? Empowerment! Believe in yourself, follow your dreams and never give up! Don't let negativity hold you back and just got for it. I think my music has positivity through it, you know, the whole record as a whole is so empowering. That's what I titled it, 'Believe', it's important to believe in yourself.

Now, your hit single, 'According To You', is a bit ruthless-Is it geared toward any guy in particular?

Maybe a couple.

 

Do you have any rituals you have to do before going on stage?

My band and I do this weird thing where we all dance around in a circle while drinking throat-coat peppermint tea and then we run around in our gold capes.

Gold Capes! Am I going to get to see them?

I think we may have them around here somewhere!

Are you into Twilight?

I love Robert Pattinson! I think he is so hot!

Is that your crush?

Pretty much! Him and Jude Law! They're both hot, right?
